Re-Write Your Story Without Fear

Share your story here…

That is the opening line when I click in to start each new blog post. I love that invitation. How important it is to each share our stories. But more importantly, to know our own story is worth sharing. That we each have a story. That we write a new page of that book every day with every choice we make. And that we own our story as our own.

If you don’t like the story of your life, start writing a new one.

I read that a while ago and thought, ‘yes, keep writing! Don’t settle here. If it’s more you want, go and get the more’.

My husband and I have been talking lately of the concept design your life. The wild notion that we can have more say over how things go than we had been willing to acknowledge. We often don’t let ourselves see this, as it threatens to open a whole box of scary ideas like responsibility and the ideas around choice. It still amazes me how many people who sit with me in a session completely frozen in fear at those concepts, unable to move forward as a result. The scariest part is how common these fears are.

Because of course underneath, it’s the actual fears of failure, worthlessness, unlovability and guilt that we are really afraid of. We fear the fear.

I love working with people through fear. It’s my favourite thing. Why? Because it’s so easy to get through it! So why don’t we? Because of fear. Let me explain…

Fear can sit in one of two stories. The first is within wisdom. The fears that alert us to being careful, staying safe, the gut instinct we can trust that we need to check something or not continue a conversation with that person. Fear itself as an emotion was designed to help us- no negative anything attached. The issue is, it rarely stays as was intended or ideal, and takes on a life of its own with many negative layers built in. That’s the second story. The unhelpful one. The pure emotion becoming tainted with negativity and changing into something else. No longer helpful or ideal or as intended for our benefit. But existing as a protector within our subconscious mind. And that’s what we associate with that word fear. And we grow quickly into fearing fear itself, perpetuating its own existence. Clever hey!

And the part we do differently at ReMindEd is to work with these protectors rather than against. To turn something we fear, into something we understand. Our mind isn’t the enemy. It’s trying to be helpful and doesn’t realise it’s changed its protectors into unhelpful. It still thinks we need it. So it pops back up on our behalf to respond to each perceived threat, whether actual or not, to help keep us safe from harm. Sometimes this happens when our conscious mind knows there is no harm, yet we find ourselves already in protective mode. Again, clever mind huh!

The process we walk clients through is kind, gentle and easy. It’s also quick. There’s a few of fear’s questions answered already….it’s not hard work, it doesn’t take heaps of sessions, it won’t leave us vulnerable and exposed and dredging up our past memories. I’ve walked hundreds of clients through this process. It’s so quick and effective. And works!

Whether it’s fear, depression, suicidality, anxiety, control or confusion, the process is the same: gentle, quick, honouring and freeing!

So if you have been frozen by fear, if you keep stepping into the same negative clew in your mind that you know has become unhelpful, I’m telling you, freedom is possible.

You can learn to understand your own mind and work with it into freedom.

It’s never too late to write a new story. You just need a new pen to do so! And we are here to help you learn how. What have you got to lose?!
